World Cancer Day, 4th February 2018

8,8 million people die of cancer worldwide each year. 300,000 children are diagnosed yearly. The figures are frightening and yet it is estimated that by addressing risk factors and raising awareness early on, one third of cancers could be prevented.

To mark World Cancer Day on 4th February, the CDI is relaying the Union for International Cancer Control’s « We can, I can » campaign, with a display centered around awareness and prevention.

We have several interesting titles to help gain a better understanding of this killer disease, as well as two very poignant biographies by Ester Earl and Paul Kalanithi.

Candles will burn brighly all week to honor the departed. If you wish to light a candle to remember someone dear, please feel to take a moment to come by the CDI.
